Traveling by airplane can be stressful, especially during the first flight. This was experienced by a passenger on Air China, who during a flight from Quzhou to Chengdu on July 4 caused chaos onboard by accidentally opening the emergency door, thinking it was the entrance to the restroom.
The incident had serious consequences. The passenger's mistake caused the emergency slide to automatically deploy, forcing the crew to evacuate all passengers and cancel the flight.
The plane required the intervention of appropriate services and had to be prepared for takeoff again. Passengers were accommodated in a hotel at the expense of the airline.
Witnesses report that the crew was busy resolving another incident on board, which may have contributed to the lack of attention. One of the passengers describes how around 9 PM Eastern Time, a woman, looking for the restroom, accidentally opened the emergency door.
There was no sound when the slide opened. After the incident, a delay was announced, and then the flight was canceled. Air China took us to a hotel to rest – says one of the travelers.
