According to "Fakt," at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Vasco Pedro, the CEO of Unbabel, announced the launch of the translation tool Widn.AI. They are also developing the Tower model, which enables precise translations without human involvement.

The company asserts that due to this advanced AI technology, translators may become unnecessary within three years. Widn.AI has the capability to independently translate into 32 languages.

Will translators become unnecessary?

Pedro acknowledged that although humans currently have the upper hand in difficult cases, this gap is narrowing. Unbabel plans to raise $20-50 million to further develop Widn.AI, aiming to stay competitive in a market dominated by Google Translate and DeepL.

According to Pedro, automation is expected to increase the volume of translated content, despite a decrease in revenue per word.
