Dryness and cracks on the heels are particularly troublesome in the summer. Many people try to quickly remove hardened skin by using pumice stones and intensively scrubbing their heels.

However, this approach is wrong. Although it provides temporary relief, it does not solve the problem in the long run. Many practical and inexpensive solutions can address this issue much more effectively.

Here are the cheapest home remedies for cracked heels

A gentle foot scrub will work better. It is a very effective solution. Instead of damaging the skin, it gradually exfoliates dead skin cells, improving the appearance of the heels. For this, you do not need expensive products—baking soda will do the job perfectly.

This commonly available kitchen powder has uses beyond baking or cleaning. It can also become the basis for a home cosmetic. Importantly, its preparation is not difficult at all.

Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with one tablespoon of water. Apply the resulting paste to your feet, especially the heels, and leave it on for a few minutes. Then rinse your feet and dry them thoroughly, and finally, apply a moisturizing or lubricating cream. The effect should be visible immediately.

Alternatively, prepare a foot soak with baking soda and salt. Add two tablespoons of baking soda and two tablespoons of salt to warm water in a basin, and then soak your feet for about 15 minutes. This will make caring for your heels more pleasant. Adding oils such as lavender or eucalyptus will make the treatment even more relaxing. After the soak, dry your feet and apply cream.

Dry heels do not appear without reason

The appearance of dry heels, in many cases, is not accidental. They can result from wearing tight footwear and other factors, including health problems. These issues affect people who are overweight, have a vitamin A deficiency, diabetes, hypothyroidism, or rheumatism.

Pregnant women can also experience cracked heels. This is often the result of wearing high heels or improper foot hygiene. We should start by addressing these issues to eliminate this problem.

If the above-mentioned methods fail, a visit to a doctor might be necessary. A specialist will precisely identify the source of the problem and implement appropriate treatment.
