Mark Regew, an advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has implied a tactical move towards Gaza - aiming to destabilize the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas. He suggests a limited presence of Israeli forces in the region, but clarifies that this does not insinuate an intended Israeli occupation of the area.

- We should anticipate a more fluid and flexible approach, allowing us the room to enter and exit the Gaza Strip as necessary, to effectively manage the situation. We are not indicating a consistent occupation - Regew clarified in an interview with CNN.

A new format by Israel

Regew emphasized that the main focus of Tel Aviv's authorities is to defeat Hamas, not to exercise "dominion over the inhabitants of Gaza".

- Contrarily, our intent lies in formulating a new format which enables the Gaza Strip residents to self-govern. We hope that this format will draw international support for rebuilding the Gaza, and we are optimistic about engaging various countries - including Arab nations - to support a demilitarized Gaza after Hamas' fall - Regew explained, representing the Israeli authorities.

General Yaron Finkelman, the leader of the Southern Command of the Israeli military, announced on Tuesday that the troops of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are situated in the center of Gaza, deep within the realm of terrorism. This marks a significant change of Israeli military positioning in decades. Furthermore, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed that Israel may undertake "continual responsibility for security" in the Gaza Strip following the war's conclusion.

The high casualty rate in Gaza

Reports from AFP on Sunday stated that Israeli forces progressed to the Mediterranean coastline, severing the northern part of the Gaza Strip - inclusive of its capital - from the remaining territory. The Israeli military further emphasized that they have established humanitarian corridors to facilitate the evacuation of civilians to the southern Strip.

On the early morning of October 7th, Israel was taken by surprise with a attack from the Gaza Strip by Hamas. This attack has led to the highest count of Israeli fatalities since 1973, during an war between the Jewish state and the Syrian-Egyptian coalition. Over the course of this ongoing conflict, that has spanned more than a month, approximately 1,400 Israeli citizens and probably around 10,300 residents of the Gaza Strip have already lost their lives.
