The 32-year-old Wright, in addition to her work in the adult film industry, is known for her pro-Palestinian stance. Her social media feeds, interspersed with risqué photos and provocative posts, are brimming with anti-Israel content, particularly regarding the invasion of the Gaza Strip by Israel.

"Israel is absolute evil and filth," Wright wrote on Twitter in October.

Creating even more controversy, Wright's recent visit to Iran has raised eyebrows. Given the oppressive treatment of women and the prohibition of pornography in the country, her visit incited a significant uproar. Many Iranian internet users alleged that the regime invited Wright for propaganda purposes.

"American porn star Whitney Wright is in Iran, my birth country, where women face death penalties for merely showing hair and expressing themselves," said Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist and activist, on Twitter.

It's important to remember, any woman appearing in public without wearing a hijab(head covering) in Iran is vulnerable to corporal punishment, often resulting in significant health issues. In extreme situations, the punishment could lead to death. The 2022 murder of Mahsa Amini, for instance, caused global outrage.

Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, also commented on the American star's visit issue.

"U.S. citizens face no obstacles in traveling to the Islamic Republic of Iran. I do not know anything else about this matter," Kanaani stated.

Responding to the criticism, Wright clarified one of her posts. "Does sharing photographs from my trip to Iran insinuate that I am endorsing Iranian propaganda? I've shared exhibits from a museum that's relatively lesser-known. This is by no means a gesture supporting the government," she stated.

Following the commotion, Wright departed Iran. According to American media, the star continues to travel across the Middle East. Unofficially, she is assumed to be in Iraq now.
