Enormous chaos ensued on the Boeing 747 Air Atlanta Icelandic cargo flight, which left the United States for Belgium on November 9. Shortly after takeoff, the plane was obliged to return to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

Potentially dangerous situation unfolds mid-flight

During the flight, a surprise occurrence led to a significant decision. "Everything was fine with the flight, but we had to secure the horse," reported the pilot to the Boston control tower. Roughly half an hour after takeoff, it was discovered that the horse onboard had escaped from its box, presenting a potential risk to flight safety.

"We might require a vet on landing. Can you relay this to New York?" - the plane's captain asked a Boston control tower operator soon after deciding to reverse the aircraft's course. To this day, the animal's escape from its specially secured box remains a mystery.

Horse creates chaos

According to the Associated Press, before touching down at the New York airport, the plane had to jettison as much as 20 tons of fuel to decrease its overall weight.

The Air Atlanta Icelandic aircraft landed safely at John F. Kennedy Airport, where vets attended to the rebellious animal. The morning after, on November 10, the journey from the USA to Belgium was resumed. During this attempt, the flight proceeded with no surprises.
