Ticks can be a real nuisance. They appear in forests and gardens. These arachnids are not only irritating but also dangerous - they can transmit various diseases. How to effectively fight ticks that have settled in the garden? We explain.
Ticks are particularly often encountered in the spring and summer period. Therefore, we are currently not in the season of their increased activity. However, this does not mean that we cannot fight with ticks in October.
It's worth considering taking care of your garden in such a way that it doesn't become a haven for ticks later on. Initially, it's worth reminding yourself that these arachnids live primarily in damp and shaded places. That's why it's important to regularly trim the lawn and shrubs. Also crucial is the removal of leaves or branches that may attract ticks.

What plants are the perfect refuge for ticks? It is often said that you can find them in ferns. If you have them in your garden, it's better to get rid of them immediately. Ticks can also gather in:
- on cover crops;
- shrubs and bushes;
- tall grasses;
- deciduous trees.
These plants repel ticks
It's worth keeping in mind that there are also plants that successfully repel ticks. The following can manage in the fight against persistent parasites:
- lavender - looks beautiful and smells wonderful. Its scent effectively repels ticks, mosquitoes, and moths;
- rosemary - has aromatic properties, and in addition it effectively repels ticks and other pests;
- eucalyptus - a tree with a strong, refreshing smell, which also deals well with ticks;
- garlic - this plant is also capable of repelling ticks.
Red myrtle, catnip, wormwood, mugwort, or eyebright also repel ticks. It is undoubtedly worth using natural methods to fight these intruders.
