One of the crew members of the German cruise ship AIDAperla fell overboard. As BBC reported, the dramatic situation occurred off the coast of Ramsgate, on the way to the Canary Islands. As soon as it was noticed, the ship immediately stopped. It then returned to the spot where the missing person probably fell into the water. The coast guard was informed about the incident.

- The ship was immediately stopped and returned to the place where the incident likely occurred, to participate in the search - informed the spokesman of AIDA Cruises.

The search has ended

The cruise ship AIDAperla was on a voyage from Hamburg, Germany to Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. The moment when a man fell overboard was not witnessed by anyone. It was only after a while that they noticed one of the crew members was missing.

The search for the missing man lasted 9 hours and started on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. A spokesman for AIDA Cruises confirmed that the mission was a failure, and the ship set sail again for its destination, Spain, on the same day in the evening.

- We are in close contact with his [missing man's - ed.] family and the crew of AIDAperla - AIDA Cruises stated after the unsuccessful search.
