The couple's video document of the incident became a viral hit on TikTok. While strolling with their dogs on a beach in Queensland, Australia, they spotted a transparent bottle bobbing near the shore.

Rick fetched the bottle, which contained a piece of paper and a substance resembling sand. Crystal uncapped the bottle to pour out its contents to retrieve the enclosed note.

The constraints of a narrow bottle neck posed challenges to retrieve the message. Nevertheless, they soon managed to make sense of the note just by peering through the glass. With a curious and slightly impatient remark, Rick suggests to Crystal to just read it through the glass. The couple was largely unaware of what they were about to discover.

"Here lies... oh, ashes!" - The Australian exclaimed, realizing that they had unknowingly scattered someone's ashes onto the beach.

Shocked and unsure of how to react, they read on: "Here lies the ashes of Geoffrey," according to the note.

The note further requested, "If found, please throw the bottle into the outgoing tide so I can continue my journey."

"Well, anyway welcome to Australia," quipped one Internet user. A second person recommended, "Just put some sand back in there and chuck it back in." In response, the couple admitted that this was precisely what they ended up doing, as they attempted to replace the scattered ashes.
