A 14‑year-old girl flees from the assailant and runs directly into the police

Police officers encountered a distressed, unclothed 14-year-old girl running down a street in New York. Upon investigation, it was revealed that she was fleeing from a 25-year-old man accused of sexual assault. The suspect, after barricading himself in a house, injured an officer during intervention. According to reports from CBS News, the deeply unsettling incident took place on Roseanne Drive in Woodbury, New York, on a Tuesday morning just shortly after 5:00 am (ET).

The officers initially responded to 25-year-old Adreas Omar's residence following an alert of a triggered burglary alarm. Upon their arrival, they discovered the visibly distraught 14-year-old girl running down the road without any clothes.

The terrified girl revealed she was escaping from Omar, whom she accused of sexual assault. "She told us a man had given chase; we pursued him, resulting in him retreating into his house," shared Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder in an interview with CBS News.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside his house for about eight hours, resisting arrest. An officer was injured during this protracted intervention.

Omar was subsequently taken to a hospital and sedated. The following day, charges were officially leveled against him.

It was also discovered that Omar had assaulted his father a few months prior, prompting the court to issue a restraining order to protect both the girl and his father.
