"Age is just a number" - declared Hoffner, addressing the enthusiastically cheering crowd that gathered at Skydive Chicago Airport in Ottawa, in the state of Illinois.
The airport is located about 87 miles southwest of Chicago, where the daring jumper is from.
She parachuted at the age of 104
After this extraordinary jump, Hoffner now aims to obtain an official certificate confirming that he is the oldest person in the world to have ever parachuted.
This is not the first time Hoffner has decided to skydive. She first did it when she turned 100 years old. At that time, she had to be literally pushed out of the plane. But this time, she insisted on being the one to take the lead in the tandem with the instructor.
Hoffner, who will be celebrating her 105th birthday in December, has no intention of resting on her laurels. She sets new challenges for herself - she dreams of going on a hot air balloon flight, as she never had a chance to do such a thing before.
Dorothy Hoffner managed to break the Guinness record, which was set in May 2022. The previous record holder, Swedish woman Linnea Ingegard Larsson, was 103 years old when she went skydiving - reminded portal ABC. Now, Hoffner is demanding official recognition of her record by the people responsible for maintaining the Guinness record book.
