Japadog
Sausages are an essential ingredient in the popular hot dog. However, if we are tired of eating them in such a form, let's prepare a Japanese version of the dish, which originated in... Canada.
Preparing a japadog is not complicated, but it requires obtaining the right ingredients, such as dried seaweed, e.g. wakame, which we soak in water for a few minutes to soften. During this time, we warm up the hot dog bun in the oven, and the sausages are thrown into boiling water for 1-2 minutes. We put the sausages into the toasted buns, thinly spread with wasabi horseradish, and then enrich the sandwich with wakame, pickled and crispy daikon radish and shredded carrot. Ready!
Frittata with sausages
The iconic Italian dish tastes great either cold or hot. It works well as a lunch dish, but it's also worth reaching for the frittata when we want to eat a nutritious breakfast. It's very simple to make, and we can use any ingredients to prepare it, including hot dogs.
Firstly, we separate the florets from a small broccoli which weighs about 5 ounces, and parboil them for a few minutes in salted water, and then leave them to cool. Into a bowl, we crack five eggs and beat or blend them. We add about 2/3 cup of sweet cream or thick natural yoghurt. We stir in 1.8 ounces of crumbled blue cheese, add in sliced frankfurters (about 3.5 ounces), and the broccoli. We season with salt, pepper, and chopped parsley.
We pour the mixture into a pan. We fry until the edges start to curdle, then we put it in an oven preheated to 390 degrees Fahrenheit, for 8-10 minutes.
Corn dog
One of the most popular American street foods. A deep-fried hot dog in cornmeal batter might not get high marks from nutritionists, but if we pay attention to good ingredients, we can sometimes diversify our menu with this treat.
First, we prepare the dough. We mix corn flour (1.5 cups) and wheat flour (1 cup) with baking powder (2-3 teaspoons), salt and sugar (1 teaspoon each) and a pinch of pepper. We crack in an egg and start to knead the mixture, gradually adding in milk (1 cup). We stir until the dough has the consistency of cream (it should not be too thin). In some recipes, a teaspoon of hot mustard or some ground paprika is added, it all depends on our taste preferences.
In a pot or deep fryer, we heat up oil. Sausages (if they have a foil wrapper, it should be removed earlier) are skewered on long kebab sticks, dipped in batter (shaking off its excess), and then submerged in the hot fat. Fry for a few minutes until the corn dogs are golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and serve with ketchup, mustard, coleslaw or another salad, such as one with iceberg lettuce, cucumber, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, and feta cheese cubes.
Quiche with sausages
A hot dog is a very versatile product, it can successfully enrich various dishes, such as a classic of French cuisine - quiche, which is simply a savory tart.
We start by preparing the dough. Sift wheat flour (2 cups), soft butter (3.5 ounces), egg, cold water (1 tablespoon), and a pinch of salt, mix thoroughly until a smooth mass is obtained. We form a ball from it, which we set aside for an hour in the refrigerator. After this time, we roll out the dough and line a tart form with it. Cover with baking paper, weight down (e.g. with peas), and bake for a quarter in a temperature of 338 degrees.
After removing from the oven, arrange sliced hot dogs on the bottom, sprinkle with grated yellow cheese, and pour over a mixture of four eggs mixed with 1.27 cups of 36 percent cream, seasoned with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with chopped chives. Bake for about half an hour at 340 degrees. Quiche tastes great hot and cold.
