The initial list included as many as 28 car models. Following comprehensive analysis and discussions, this was shortened to the seven most competitive contenders. Remarkably, each finalist features an electrified or fully electric drive - a first in the competition's history. Below is the list of candidates, presented in alphabetical order.
Candidates for 2024 Car of the Year:
- BMW 5 Series,
- BYD Seal,
- Kia EV9,
- Peugeot E-3008/3008,
- Renault Scenic,
- Toyota C-HR,
- Volvo EX30.
The inclusion of the BYD Seal is a big surprise and symbolises the growing influence of Chinese automakers in Europe. The rest of the contenders are more or less expected, and it appears to be a leveled playing field at this stage.
We'll discover the victorious model on February 26 at a car show in Geneva. What's your pick for the winner?
