Ukraine strikes back: Precision hit on Russian command post
The Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a precise attack on a Russian command post in the Kursk region, which has been partially controlled by Kyiv since August 2024. The goal, as conveyed by the Ukrainian army, was to weaken Russia's ability to carry out terrorist acts against Ukrainian civilians.
The Ukrainian army targeted the Russian command post in the Kursk region, specifically in the village of Maryino.
The General Staff of Ukraine reported that the attack was carried out with precautions to minimize the threat to civilians. "These strikes disrupt the ability of the Russian Federation to conduct terrorism against innocent Ukrainian civilians," the statement emphasized.
Situation in the Kursk region
Ukrainian forces entered the Kursk region on August 6, 2024, intending to force the Russians to divert some forces from Donbas. By the end of August, Kyiv controlled 480 square miles of this region, but since September, Ukrainian forces have started losing ground to the Russian counteroffensive. By November, they controlled only about 309 square miles.
According to Western sources, Russians in the Kursk region are supported by over 10,000 soldiers from North Korea. The General Staff of Ukraine announced further actions aimed at identifying and destroying Russian military command facilities.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue operations to seek and destroy the military command of the Russian terrorist regime," the statement emphasized.
