Turkey plays a constructive role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Prof. Tansi notes that the Biden administration attempted to transform a defensive war into a proxy war. Trump could implement a frozen conflict model, which might influence the stabilization of the situation.

According to the expert, Trump's policy will focus more on China than Russia. This focus could contribute to easing tensions in Ukraine. Turkey maintains balanced relations with Ukraine and Russia, essential for regional stability.

Challenges in US-Turkey relations

US relations with Turkey are strained due to the US military presence in Greece and Cyprus and the activities of Kurdish forces in Syria. Despite good personal relationships between Trump and Erdogan, sanctions have been imposed on Turkey in the past.

Trump's policy in the Middle East may rely on the Greece-Cyprus-Israel-Saudi Arabia axis. Syria will be a focal point, where Israeli expansion could threaten Turkish-American relations. The expert emphasizes that despite promises to withdraw troops, the US is continuing to invest in Kurdish forces in Syria.
