Access to the GEGD program was temporarily suspended by the Trump administration due to political tensions between the United States and the Ukrainian government. This decision resulted from the prohibition on sharing intelligence data with Ukraine, which was intended to pressure the Ukrainian government into negotiations.

The data from the GEGD program was used by Ukraine to target strategic locations in Russia and to precisely guide American weapons near the front lines. The restriction on sharing satellite data impacted both users affiliated with the Ukrainian government and private parties monitoring the situation on the ground.

On March 11, 2025, following negotiations between Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia, the suspension of intelligence data and military aid delivery to Ukraine was lifted.

Support for Ukraine

The restoration of access to Maxar's satellite data is crucial for Ukraine, which, amid the conflict with Russia, requires precise intelligence information. This access allows Ukraine to more effectively plan its military actions and better protect its territory.

Further U.S. support, both in intelligence data and military aid, is essential for maintaining stability in the region and supporting Ukraine in its efforts to defend its sovereignty.
