Further attacks on Beirut
This marks the fourth Israeli attack on the central part of Beirut this week. Previous strikes mainly targeted the southern suburbs controlled by Hezbollah. Several commanders of this organization were killed in these operations.
Israel began its offensive against Hezbollah in September, following a year of conflict along the border with Lebanon. The U.S. envoy, Amos Hochstein, after meetings in Beirut and with Israeli leaders, reported progress in the negotiations concerning a ceasefire.
