Russian Foreign Minister compares 'America First' to nazi slogan

In an article for the magazine "Russia in Global Affairs," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the United States' shift to the "America First" concept. Lavrov compared Donald Trump's slogan to the Nazi "Germany first."

Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.

"The transition to the concept of 'United States first' has an eerie resonance with the Hitler-era slogan 'Germany first,' and the reliance on 'peace through strength' could finally bury diplomacy," Lavrov wrote in the article. According to him, such an approach does not respect the U.S.'s international legal obligations under the United Nations Charter.

Lavrov on the US position

The head of Russian diplomacy stated that demographic, economic, social, and geopolitical changes are irreversible, making a return to the old world order impossible. Lavrov claimed that multipolarity is strengthening worldwide.

The politician suggests that rather than resisting this shift, the U.S. could position itself as one of the key centers of power alongside Russia, China, and other influential nations across the global South, East, North, and West.

A warning for Trump?

Lavrov added that the new American administration will test the boundaries with 'cowboy attacks' on the UN-based system concerning American interests.

However, he emphasized that the Trump administration will soon realize that international reality is much richer than the worldviews that can be presented without consequence in speeches aimed at the American public and compliant geopolitical allies.

Russia "awaits a sobering up"

Lavrov stated that anticipating this shift in perspective, Russia will continue collaborating with like-minded partners to reshape interstate relations in line with the realities of a multipolar world. This effort, he emphasized, will align with the international legal framework established by the Yalta-Potsdam system and reflected in the United Nations Charter.
