The tragic event occurred on Friday, October 11, in the town of Villarreal, located on the eastern coast of Spain, north of Valencia. According to the Spanish newspaper Mediterraneo, the woman was on her way to the emergency room after being bitten by the family's pet hamster.

She was accompanied by her two children, aged seven and eleven. Unfortunately, the woman fainted just before reaching the hospital. Despite the immediate resuscitation efforts by the medical staff, she could not be saved.

After the incident, the police secured the area around the location where the body was found, and a local court began an investigation into the cause of death.

An autopsy has been conducted. The results of this examination may shed light on the cause of death, although such reports are usually not published in Spain.

Although extremely rare, incidents like this remind us that a hamster bite can potentially lead to serious health consequences. Rodents can carry diseases such as rabies or bacterial infections, though this occurs very sporadically.

Experts recommend that if bitten by an animal, the wound must be cleaned thoroughly to minimize the risk of infection. In the past, there have been cases of individuals who suffered severe allergic reactions after animal bites, manifesting as breathing difficulties, which could lead to hospitalization. There might have been an anaphylactic shock in this case, but there are no definitive conclusions yet.
