The attached bottle caps are just one of many stringent requirements the European Union sets regarding beverage storage. It turns out that in the case of water, its color also holds significant meaning. Thanks to them, it is known how the liquid has been processed.

We should drink at least half a gallon of liquids daily. In the summer, we are even more inclined to choose water, which quickly quenches our thirst. Not everyone, however, knows that the color of the cap on the bottle can have far more significant meaning than it initially seems.

The colors of water bottle caps have meaning

There are many types of water on the market, which can differ in properties and taste. We often choose to buy bottled water, but not everyone knows that the colors of their caps are not just the whims of manufacturers but also a sign that can reveal how the water has been processed.

Bottles with white caps most often contain processed water, for which advanced purification methods have been used. You will find blue caps on natural spring waters.

You can also buy bottles with green caps, which most often contain water with added flavoring. Alternatively, if you choose a bottle with a black cap, it’s worth knowing that it contains alkaline water, which is distinguished by a higher pH and medicinal properties.

Tap water or bottled water?

It's important to know that in our country, water utility companies are responsible for the quality of water that flows only to the main valves, usually located in front of buildings. This means that before the water reaches our taps, it must travel a bit further. However, this does not mean it is unsuitable for consumption. It is worth ensuring the cleanliness of the pipes in our homes.

Water utility companies encourage residents to drink water straight from the tap because it meets very strict criteria.

Many people still prefer bottled water. However, in the summer, it is particularly important to be cautious about it because harmful substances can seep into the liquid under the influence of high temperatures.

However, it is worth noting that they are dangerous only in enormous quantities. It is believed that one would have to drink several hundred gallons of this type of water daily for it to pose a real threat to our health.
