A small plane crashed on the A58 highway in the Netherlands, near the international airport in Breda. The pilot died. "When it fell, I saw a ball of fire and then smoke," said one of the witnesses.

The incident occurred after 6:30 AM Eastern Time on the A58 highway near Rucphen. A small plane fell on the road, and a fire broke out. A column of black smoke could be seen from miles away.

"I saw something spinning and falling. It looked like a small plane, I thought. When it fell, I suddenly saw a ball of fire and then smoke," recounted one of the witnesses in an interview with Omroep Brabant.

The pilot has died

In the accident, the plane's pilot died. He was the only person on the plane. According to the media, he was taking flying lessons at a nearby airport in Breda. The aircraft belonged to the local flight school.

The school said in a statement, "Our thoughts are with his wife, family, and other relatives." The company will be closed for the next few days.
